“The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.”

Water Media Paintings

I’ve painted with watercolors on and off over the years, but mastering this challenging medium often discouraged me. In the past several years, I've painted more consistently and found that the unpredictable nature of water pigments allows me to embrace my imperfections and enjoy unexpected outcomes. I use watercolor, gouache, and mixed media on archival papers like Arches, Fabriano, Saunders, and Kilimanjaro. Recently, I've also explored YUPO paper, a tree-free, recyclable, waterproof, and non-porous option that enhances my painting experience. Using gouache or watercolor on YUPO is even less controllable than on traditional paper, offering an unusual artistic challenge…and unique result!
